'People are afraid' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

It's evident why Arsenal have become numerous fans' preferred choice to win the Premier League during this term.

Examine their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to at last realize their title target.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but competing clubs still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these situations.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Title Claims

What is even more remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and purpose.
